Live Radio Broadcast From Hot Air Balloon at 2000+ feet
Audio and Pictures from 2007 Wah Chang Art and Air Festival Balloon Launch, Friday, August 24th, 6am - 8:15am. The launch site is Timberlinn Park in Albany, Oregon home of the annual event.

Broadcast Segment 1- (6:15am) Pre Balloon Launch from launch site at Timberlinn Park. Balloon owner Randall Fuehrer was the Pilot for the flight of the balloon Magic. Randall is from McMinnville and runs the company Outback Balloon LLC. Randall is a FAA Hot Air Balloon Commercial Pilot and a FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. We discuss the weekend events and can hear the burners lighting up. {Length 3m:56s}
Broadcast Segment 2- (6:38am) First of the balloons being launched and prepping his balloon for takeoff within minutes. {Length 3:24}
Broadcast Segment 3- (approximately 6:45am) Broadcast during the actual launch, up, up and away. Describing the view from 1500 feet of Scio, Lebanon, the Coast Range right over the city of Albany. {Length 3:59}
Broadcast Segment 4- (7:13am) Broadcast from over 2380 feet, south of Highway 34, west of Highway 99E, Southwest of Tangent. We discussed with the pilot, Randall Fuehrer, his balloon size, how he started in the balloon business, his hot air balloon capacity, typical flight length, balloon capacity, FAA Certification, the chase crew, and his company Outback Balloon, LLC {Length 6:03}
Broadcast Segment 5- (8:06am) Broadcast from ground at landing site in a Farmers Field, Southwest of Shedd, about 1 mile Northeast of the Mill in Halsey. We discussed the rough landing, going sideways in the farmers field.{Length 5:18}

Highway 99-e runs left to right in upper center of picture.

No safe landing side near Shedd so we landed several miles further Southwest with the final landing spot northwest of the Halsey mill.
A surface wind caused us to be pulled along the ground sideways (hang on for dear life) for the rough, but fun landing.

We went up to about 2800 feet during the flight which from start to finish was was about 16+ miles (we did zig zag adding more distance). Check out the Google Earth view of the start and end points below.
