- Listening to Programs on Line
- Archived audio in the MP3 audio file format (sometimes referred to as Podcasts) are available on www.kgal.com. To listen to just click on each links "[Audio Archive]" or blue bold link note and the file will download and play.
The files are in the MP3 audio file format and will load into Windows Media Player, WinAmp or any other audio player that plays back mp3 type audio files. These files can be played in any mp3 player, not just an Ipod.
Keep in mind these files may be large (3 to 30 Megabytes) so to listen and download a high-speed interview connection is desirable. Some computers will be configured to start playing the beginning of the file while the remaining audio is downloaded. In this case the audio will start playing within a minute while the remaining audio file is downloaded.
In some instances (Radio Ray's Christmas Card) the file size may be very large. We have provided long form programs in high quality long form (one huge file about 1/2 a gigabyte), lower quality and in program portions.
Other audio player programs may be configured to start only after the entire file is loaded. Due to the length of some of the interviews and the corresponding file size (sometimes 20 Megabytes+) this may take several minutes, even with a high-speed connection.
Note that since these files are generally from interviews 20-40 minutes in length it will take more time to download versus your average song in an mp3 format.
- Saving Audio Archives and Slow or Dial Up Connections
- If you are having trouble listening to the audio do to a slow connection (audio stops) you can save the audio file by pointing at selected audio archive link and right mouse clicking and select Save Target As (for Firefox Save Link as). You will be prompted to give the file a name. The default name on the KGAL.COM server is fine.
Save the file to your desktop and then play file from Windows Media Player or any other mp3 file player such as Winamp.
You can also take the downloaded MP3 file burn to CD or copy to another computer.
If you have any questions please email us.
