Phishing, (eBay / PayPal / Banks / Credit Cards) the main ones.

Bogus Websites, can be found through Phishing of course, but can be done by a typo or visiting unregulated sites.

Phony payment methods

Fake escrow companies

Stolen / forged docs

Spyware & Malware, programs you can get from downloading illegal files, visiting websites, misdirects and opening emails. Can cause computer instability as well as total damage. Can also track usage, steal passwords, cause redirects and record keystrokes. Can also be found in opening emails or email attachments from people you don't know or spoofed emails.

New ones are the special loan deals that require money up front to secure a low interest loan.

New are replies to online ads, Craigslist etc.. reply with expected attachments, but really a virus or spyware.

New, fake eBay auctions, seller takes auction offline after getting a few dozen bids (item like a car, opening bid 99 cents, 100 bidders no time).. then contacts the people direct, said they had to take the item offline due to too many emails. Offers it to the person they email at a good price, but then the seller says they want to be protected, so they want to sell you the car through eBay Billing so everyone is projected, but of course there is no eBay billing, so people wire money for a vehicle that does not exist. They steal the info from any other eBay auction listed. Usually the seller says they are in Germany, but the car is in the USA. Since they are staying in germany they don't need the USA car anymore. Got two people with this one in the last week.

New thing called Scam Bating, but not something that I think would apply here, when people take the Nigerian scams and try to scam the scammers.

Rash of fake emails saying coming from your email server, that there is a worm that was sent to all users of this email account / server / ISP etc.. and you have to install and run this program to fix, ... you know the rest. Sample:

Re: Mail server report.

Our firewall determined the e-mails containing worm copies are being sent from your computer.

Nowadays it happens from many computers, because this is a new virus type (Network Worms).

Using the new bug in the Windows, these viruses infect the computer unnoticeably. After the penetrating into the computer the virus harvests all the e-mail addresses and sends the copies of itself to these e-mail addresses

Please install updates for worm elimination and your computer restoring.

Best regards, Customers support service

New, emails fake job offers, require $ for processing applications

New scam where they want you to process money for them as they don't have an account in the USA .

New email that says your account is bad, problem, out of date, bad credit card or whatever, but asks you to call a phone number and wheedles you out of all your information. They are using VIOP so you can't trace the call later once you know you are scammed. They call this vishing. The other issues with using VOIP it will be a local call, so it seems much more realistic.

Hugh rash of Stock & IPO Emails / Dump and runs
